Hi from Andy/K9AJS, this is my custom install of my ham radio station in my 1998 Ford Explorer, the mount was custom built by my dad, in order to get the mount in part of the front of the center console had to be removed, overall I am very happy the way everything turned out, also if you have limited space and need a mount for your vehicle for your ham radio or cb my dad will build one for $75 and also have instructions included on how to put the mount in your vehicle.
The radios I have is a Yaesu Ft-8900 on top and a regular cb radio in the bottom of the mount.
[..YouTube..] cool
[..YouTube..] Looks great! Good setup.
[..YouTube..] one of the worst looking setups i’ve seen, looks frankensteined together
why not just side mount each radio to a side of the console, its what I did, and it saves the look of the console
another guy on the forums mounted them inside the arm rest, this lacks functionality, but looks the best as they’re completely hidden

I know that a person can mount their radios where ever they want with the removable face plates these days with limited space, but I wanted to make my radio setup so I am able to mount virtually any radio in the center possible, eventually I like to mount a cobra 148 in mly explorer, I now have lots of room because of the mount in the center
[..YouTube..] Well you don’t have to worry about not having communication if you get stuck O,o.. Canadian eh?
